We are seeking a Finance Director / Business Director/Chief Operating Officer for our emerging Multi Academy Trust. This is an exciting new role, working alongside the Chief Executive to shape a new way of working among a group of schools in the Aylesbury Area. Financial acumen, leadership skills and administrative efficiency are of course essential. Even more essential is a strong desire to use your professional skills to see young people succeed.

We are a small Multi Academy Trust expecting to consist of three secondary schools by the end of the year. The first school to join the Trust was Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School.

Our ambition is to be a partnership of schools based around Aylesbury that are organically joined together with a sense of shared responsibility for each others’ success.  The organisations in the Trust will be joined at governance level by the oversight given by the Trustees and at operational leadership level by the work of the CEO and COO/Business Director

About the role

The role will be to lead on the business side of the Trust’s operation. That will include the Chief Finance Officer role, dealing with the high level accounts and budget setting, monitoring and compiling statutory returns. It will also include responsibility for premises development across the sites. The Company secretary responsibilities and oversight of compliance issues will sit within this position. In time this postholder will be working to set up a range of support services that operate across the Trust.

About you

You will have gained some management experience, not necessarily in a school context. You must have professional qualifications that are relevant to the role. A sound understanding of accounting principles is essential. Beyond that you will have an entrepreneurial attitude, the ability to get on and make things happen whilst at the same time being a good team player. Our Trust exists to improve the life chances of young people. To do this job in the way that we would like you must be strongly driven to do all you can to make sure that the young people in our care get a world class education.

We are seeking an efficient, well organised and customer focused colleague to lead and manage our examinations system and the analysis of student assessment data.

About us

We have the privilege of working with well-motivated students who enjoy being part of our vibrant school community. We run a large public examinations system (GCSE, A level and IB Diploma) with several hundred students taking exams each year.

About the role

This role is at the heart of our assessment processes – organising external (GCSE and A level) exams and also managing our internal examination system. We place a high value on assessment information gained from internal school examinations and tests. We make regular checks on how well students are doing so we can arrange for appropriate interventions to be made to ensure that all student do as well as they can.  This postholder will have a key responsibility for analysing our results and presenting their analysis to senior teachers.

About you

You will be well organised with a high level of attention to detail. You will also be confident in the use of spreadsheets. Some understanding of the language and the traditions of school examinations would be helpful but if you are a quick learner you should fairly rapidly get yourself up to speed.
